Anxiety Isn’t Just in Your Mind —

It’s in Your Nervous System

At IVY, we approach anxiety differently.

While many therapies focus only on managing thoughts, anxiety is often rooted deeper — in how the nervous system processes stress, past experiences, and perceived threats.

That’s why we incorporate EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), a research-backed therapy designed to help the brain reprocess distressing experiences and reduce the intensity of anxiety responses.

Instead of just helping you cope, we help your system shift.

Additional Support for Anxiety at IVY

While counseling is the foundation, some clients benefit from additional support that helps regulate stress responses more holistically.

Art Therapy

A creative, non-verbal approach that can help process emotions and reduce stress.

Occupational Therapy (Lifestyle Optimization)

Practical strategies to improve routines, reduce overwhelm, and support daily functioning.

Nutrition & Natural Supplement Guidance

Support for improving how your body responds to stress through nutrition and targeted, evidence-informed supplementation.

Bowen Therapy

A gentle, precise hands-on technique designed to calm the nervous system and release deep patterns of tension. Ideal for clients experiencing physical symptoms of anxiety, chronic stress, or feeling “stuck” in a heightened stress state.

Acupuncture

Why We Don’t Take Insurance —
And Why Many Clients Prefer It

We are an out-of-network provider, which means we do not bill insurance directly.
However, we accept HSA and FSA payments, and many clients choose this model intentionally.

Here's Why:

01

More Personalized Care

No insurance restrictions means your treatment is based on your needs — not session limits or pre-approved diagnoses.

03

Privacy & Confidentiality

Your mental health information is not required to be shared with insurance companies.

02

Longer Effective Sessions

We’re able to spend the time needed to do meaningful work, especially with EMDR and nervous system-based care.

04

Not Focused On Billing Codes

Our goal is real progress, not checking boxes for reimbursement.

For many clients, this leads to faster, deeper, and more lasting results, making care more valuable over time.

Why EMDR Works for Anxiety

EMDR is one of the most researched trauma therapies and is widely used to treat anxiety, PTSD, and stress-related conditions.

Research suggests that EMDR helps:

  • Reduce emotional reactivity to distressing memories

  • Improve how the brain processes stored experiences

  • Decrease symptoms of anxiety, panic, and hypervigilance

  • Support regulation of the nervous system

During EMDR sessions, guided bilateral stimulation (such as eye movements) helps the brain process unresolved experiences in a way that allows them to be stored more adaptively.

Organizations such as the World Health Organization and the American Psychological Association recognize EMDR as an effective, evidence-based treatment for trauma — and it is increasingly used for anxiety-related conditions.
