What is a Doula?
Doulas are birth advocates that provide emotional support and education throughout and after pregnancy. Their main role is to help women make educated and pre-contemplated decisions about their own bodies and birth. Unlike midwives, doulas are not medically trained to deliver babies. However, research shows that having a doula on your side during and after pregnancy dramatically decreases pain during labor, time in labor, and the risk of cesarean section.

What does it look like to work with a Doula?
We encourage an initial free consultation to ensure alignment with your chosen doula. If you decided to go with IVY's doula, the rest is up to you! Your doula can provide as little or as much guidance as you need. This can include prenatal home visits, home/nursery organization, a birth preference consultation, on-call birth support, labor support, placenta encapsulation, postpartum home visits, newborn care, breastfeeding support, and daytime and overnight support.
Breathe easy. Have a doula on your side.
