Massage Therapist

FOCUS: Therapeutic Bodywork • Neuromuscular Therapy • Myofascial Release • Prenatal Massage • Lymphatic Drainage/Oncology Massage • Teaching Therapeutic Touch

Rizwan is a licensed massage and bodywork therapist, trained in neuromuscular and structural bodywork techniques. He uses manual manipulation, joint mobilization, lymphatic drainage and cupping to help his clients relax and recover.

Rizwan believes that one of the keys to lengthening your health span is to focus on recovery. Time spent helping the body process and physically release muscular impairment from all types of trauma - everything from “sleeping wrong” to chemotherapy treatments, allows the body to heal more quickly and fully. He knows the role that therapeutic bodywork can play in that process and feels lucky to be able to use his hands to help others heal. He believes deeply that therapeutic bodywork isn’t something that should be confined to the office and is passionate about teaching people how to understand and heal their own and their loved ones bodies.

Although Rizwan began his formal bodywork instruction at the age of 7, at the behest of a father who enjoyed daily massage, it took a while for him to make it his primary focus and career. He began his work life by serving in the United States Army, where he was trained in electronic warfare and as a Russian linguist and where he attended both the Defense Language Institute and the United States Military Academy at West Point. He received his undergraduate degree (A.B.) from Columbia University and a master degree (M.S.R.E.) from New York University.

When he is not working, you will probably find Rizwan on the sideline of a soccer field, watching one or both of his two children.
