what DOES IT LOOK LIKE TO WORK WITH A Bowen THerapist?
During your initial consultation for Bowen Therapy, your therapist will assess the history of your illness and perform necessary physical exams. You will receive a total body foundational Bowen Therapy in your first visit to get your body accustomed to the therapy. A total of four to ten 20-minute sessions is generally advised. A sequence of small moves is performed, then the nervous system is left alone to reset before the next sequence of moves is initiated. Expect to feel deeply relaxed and “light”. Drink plenty of water and avoid excessive exercise or hot bath water for 24 hours following a session.
**Other forms of manipulation (such as massage, chiropractic, physiotherapy, and acupuncture) are discouraged between Bowen treatments to allow the body time to completely integrate the therapy.
